Actually the 1950′s was my time to cuddle, play mommy, feed bottles, take care of a wet diaper and change clothes countless times on my favorite dolls, ranging from Tiny Tears to Ginny!
But, the 1960′s and 70′s produced cool dolls too, as well as introducing the infamous Barbie doll. From Chatty Cathy, to Dancerella by Mattel, to the Horsman doll collectibles, this era delivered creative and fun dolls for the little girls of those decades. For instance, the Dancerella doll by Mattel would twirl on her en pointe ballerina toes when you pushed her crown!
This week, I had the privilege of sorting through dozens of dolls from the 1960′s and 70′s at our local museum, brought in by a resident for the Historical Society to sell for their benefit. In general, they were in “played with” condition. But, they all told a story and looked at me with their sleepy or bright eyes reflecting days gone by of serious pretend time.
Many will be sold in a lot for those who enjoy dressing and restoring such toys to their former glory. Others will be listed individually to fully represent their potential.
