Beautiful blue collector's plate depicting a mother playing a piano with baby on her lap and others singing around the Christmas tree. Below the scene is printed: JULE - AFTEN - 1971" On the back is reads: "Made in Denmark Copenhagen Porcelain. #8000/9071 Jul i hjenmet Christmas at Home" It also has a logo with B&G imprinted on the plate and stamped LV1. It is in the traditional blue and white Henry Thelander design of Bing and Grondahl Christmas plates using the Scandinavian majolica style.

Measures 7 1/4 inches diameter. Very good condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. We offer this Danish collectible for only $10.00!

The first recorded Limited Edition collector plate came from the Bing and Grondahl factory of Denmark in 1895. This now sought after collector plate, titled “Behind The Frozen Window,” was the first known commemorative plate to be limited in production with date and title information fired on the plate itself. Today, it sells on Replacements for $6999.00! This collector plate was followed by a second the following year as the first Annual Bing and Grondahl Christmas plate titled “Jule Aften 1896.” An annual plate was produced each year thereafter and still is today under the Royal Copenhagen name."


Royal Copenhagen started production of Christmas plates in 1908. This year, 2008, marks one hundred years of these distinctive collector's porcelain Christmas plates. In the early years the motifs were selected from entries in a competition among the factory's porcelain painters. Later, the plate's motifs were inspired by Danish countryside, history and traditions.
