Shackman Dionne Quint Paperdolls

Dionne Quint Paperdolls
Shackman/Merrimack and Co. who held production for over 100 years, in New York City and now of Battle Creek, Michigan produced these darling Dionne Quint Paper dolls. B. Shackman, using exceptional color, die-cutting and embossing, is well known for its superior quality reproductions of dozens of antique paper dolls, including the Dionne Quint collection.

The 1930s - 1950s probably holds the title "Golden Age of Paper Dolls," as their popularity during those years has yet to be equaled. During the economic downturn of the 1930's, paper dolls could still be afforded and manufactured, though on lesser-quality paper.

I was a child of the 1950's and can certainly remember loving and playing with some of those original paper dolls!

Even though paper dolls dominated many areas such as comics, movie stars and story book figures, the Dionne Quintuplets held a strong market for their manufacturers. Born May 28, 1934 in Ontario, Canada, they were the first quintuplets to survive infancy and the only female identical set of five ever recorded. Karen Jordan writes for the Canadian History some interesting facts about their births, life and deaths.

Add this famous reproduction set to your paper doll collection. Good condition, no tears, rips or missing pages. Only one set available.
